-Max's POV-

“I hate desert.”

I groaned as I lied flat on the makeshift bed in our tent. Wesley and Nikko were sitting around me and lightly chuckled, seeing how beat up I was.

Welcome to Geoda. After weeks of delay the Andalusst guilds finally got to head out for the desert city out in the middle of nowhere. Now, we just sat up camp near this saloon near Cacturne just before sunset. Good Lord, the heat out here is just ridiculous…

“Aww, c’mon, you didn’t even walk the whole way for crying out loud!” Wesley commented.

“It’s the heat, okay?” I responded with my head facing the ground. “I just don’t like the heat.”

“Perhaps the saloon can cool you down a bit,” Nikko suggested. “And don’t forget we still need to dig through their cellar for the BBQ tomorrow.”

I convinced myself to get up. “And I almost forgot about that,” I mumbled. “I need some tea first before I can work…”

After a smoothing cup of Cactus Tea, I met up with couple ‘mons in the saloon and headed up to the cellar together to dig through their food supply and cooking equipment.

“Get the hell outta here, you guys have a wok up here!?” I exclaimed with excitement. Attracting some attention from other ‘mon around.

“A what?” Mytew turned toward the corner with confusion while he and the others watched me hold the huge chunk of metal out from the corner.

“What is that?” Wesley asked.

“It’s a wok, a special cooking pan used in my home region suitable for making lots of different kind of cuisine,” I explained to the others while I dust-off the wok. Sherman walked into the cellar moments later and noticed the wok on my hand.

“I’ll be darned, you found the wok,” she commented.

“Just why would you end up with something like this?” Nate, the Buneary next to Mytew, asked.

“It was a while ago when some merchants from Chino passed through here and sold me that wok along with the stove that came with it,” Sherman tilted her head and recalled. “I have no idea how to use it at all so I stacked it up here since.”

“Come to think of it, you seems to know a lot about those wacky stuff over there,” Sherman remarked.

“’Course I do, since I’m from Chino myself,” I replied. “You said there’s a stove that came along with it?”

“It should be somewhere near where I put that wok.”

I strolled back to the dark corner and found the “stove” Sherman was talking about—a small cylinder shaped furnace with a round opening on the top.

“Perfect!” I exclaimed, “Now I can make some home cuisine that I’m dying to try tomorrow!”

“Hold your horses there, kid, I almost forgot what I’m up here for,” Sherman suddenly cut in.

“And what is it?” asked Mytew.

“You lots are with the Explorer Guild, no? Your leader is looking for you, saying it’s something urgent.”

“What’s the matter?” I asked.

“Looks like some ‘mons have gone missing around here and your guild is looking for someone willing to help,” she replied.

For :iconpmdunity:

The prologue to mark the start of the whole series of tasks Eurasia's going to do for Cactus Field. There's gonna be a lot of stuff to do for the next day and night... Let's just hope Max doesn't het himself a heat stroke before everything's done.

Just a quick note that "Chino" here is a country I made located next to Iapon that resembles China. Max himself is from there. :3

Nice take on the headcanon country Chino, but I've once consulted Sunny about the Chinese culture(along with countries resembling china) and he replied that it would just be a counterpart of Iapon(or just in Iapon itself).
