PMD-U Eurasia: Dungeon 1-Basalt Halls Part 3

Niki opened the door and Wesley flew in with excitement. I peeked my head into the room and the first thing that caught my attention was the light reflected from the ground.

“Are those some sort of metal shards on the ground?” I picked one up and asked as I carefully examine it.

“Looks like iron…” said Rodriguez, holding a couple on his hand.

Dastan, Neige, Aurora, Niki, and Lillith tipped their foot carefully while in the room. It’s pretty clear that those little guys can’t comfortably walk in this room ‘cause those pointy shards on the ground are stingy for their feet.

“Just how can you guys move in this room without pain?” Neige looked at Crag and I with a stressed face.

“I’m part Steel,” I replied with a shrug.

“I just got used to this kind of landscape somehow,” Rod said.

“So am I,” Crag added. “And being part Rock helps?”

“Wesley and I are Ghosts, we float in the air,” Phara coldly said.

“Jeez, I’m starting to envy you guys,” Neige grumbled.

Perhaps Neige said that a little bit too early, ‘cause tipping their toes made them more cautious. That’s something Crag and I can’t do while comfortably strolling in the room.

Phara looked around her. “This room looks like there’s nothing else other than those shards, should we move on?”

“Yeah, I just can’t stand those pointy stuff anymore,” Dastan followed.

There are doors on each side of the room. One leads to the entrance we came from, and the one adjacent to it is out-right missing.

“Should we move on from that empty doorway?” I asked. “I think I have an idea for that room over there.”

Wesley looked that way as well. “Oh yeah? Like what?”

“Something like—”

*click!*

“What the—”

Before I know it, stings came up from the ground and poking on my feet.

“Ow!”

Thorn and Aurora rushed to me when they heard my scream. I jumped couple steps back and fell on the ground.

“Are you alright?” Aurora asked in concern.

“I’m fine, I’m fine…” I replied as I stood up. “Watch your feet, there’s something underneath.”

Aurora and Thorn watched while I took a step back and carefully clearing the shards away, revealing a Poison Sting Trap underneath the shards.

“Is that a trap?” Aurora asked.

“Looks like it…” I groaned.

“Then why didn’t you get poisoned by it?”

“I’m part Steel. Step back,” I replied as I gathered two Aura Spheres, one on each hand. Once I saw Thorn and Aurora cleared, I pointed to the ground and unleashed the Spheres on the trap at once, creating a big boom that snapped the trap in half.

“We’re done here, let’s move on,” I said, walking with Thorn and Aurora toward the doorway with missing door.

“Wow, this room is huge!” Neige remarked.

Wesley noticed a wooden door lying near the doorway when he followed Neige in. “Well, looks like we found the missing door,” he said. “And hang on…”

“What’s up?” Lillith walked to Wesley and asked.

Wesley pointed at one corner of the door to direct Lillith’s attention.

“Is that… burnt marks?” Lillith asked.

“Apparently so.”

“What could’ve make that mark?”

“I’m thinking fire trap, there’s a straight smoke trail on it.” Wesley replied. “Let’s be careful.”

On the other side of the room, I saw a Spoolstone sits in the middle of the room just waiting to be collected.

“Jackpot!” I remarked while I picked up the stone.

“There’s Spoolstone in this place?” Neige asked in amazement.

“Oh yeah, there’re all sorts of stuff like these in the dungeon for explorers to collect,” I explained. “In fact, that’s how must of the food in Andalusst comes from, and we’re supposed to collect them as much as we can.”

Then I turned my attention to the door not far behind the Spoolstone.

“I have a feeling that Borboach earlier might’ve crushed that door behind us and ran this way,” I said. “I’ll bet the exit is right behind this door.”

“Wanna take a crack at it?” Dastan asked.

“Let’s do it,” I said while I strolled to the door with Dastan and I turned the doorknob. When I slowly opened the door, a chilly wind came out from the room and I felt like something’s leaning on the door and it’s about to fall.

“The heck? Is something behind this door?” I grumbled and I opened the door. A gust of icy wind just blew through the whole room that startled everyone else.

“Good God, it’s cold!” Niki screamed from the cold.

“Oh, jeez, the hell’s that gust coming from!?” Crag shivered and turned toward Dastan and I like everyone else did. Only to see a blizzard coming from the room next door I just opened.

“Wow, I thought I’ve seen everything,” I commented.

“Is that seriously snow!?” Lillith asked in confusion.

“All these years I’ve spent exploring and I’ve never seen stuff like that…” Wesley grumbled.

At least one thing I expect about this room is right.

“Bingo,” I remarked pointing at the cave on the other side of the room, “That’s the exit.”

“You’re right, but can you close the door now?” Dastan shakily grumbled. “It’s freezing in that room.”

I chuckled and shut the door.

“Hey Rod, can I huddle next to you for a minute?” Lillith turned to her partner and asked.

Rod didn’t say a thing, and he torched up a small flame on his back for Lillith to warm up a bit.

“Can I come to?” Thorn jumped from Aurora’s back and cuddled next to Rod.

“Me too.”

“Me too!”

“Count me in!”

“Sorry, but I can come too?”

All of a sudden, Wesley, Crag, Niki, and Phara all cuddled around Rod to warm themselves up. Neige and I laughed at the campfire and Rod isn’t impressed.

“This room is just the right place to put a forward base for all three guilds,” I remarked after looking around the room. “As soon as you guys are ready, we can start buildin’ to make our job easier.”

“Building? We don’t even have the materials to do that!” said Niki.

“I have that taken cared of already,” I said with a grin.

Almost instantly, we heard a loud noise of carts rolling toward us. And four Pokémon: a Cubone, a Chikorita, and Mystic Leaves’s Nikko and Elexania strolled into the room we were in with 2 carts full of building supplies.

“Sorry we’re late!” Nikko greeted.

“What took you guys to long!?” I impatiently asked.

“Luke and Soltice took forever deciding what features they want for the forward base,” the Cubone explained. “By the way, I’m Mark, and that Chikorita is my partner Checker.”

“Hi,” Checker greeted with a big grin.

“I’m Elexania, you can call me Lexi.”

“And I’m Nikko!”

“Nice to meet you guys,” Aurora waved at the four.

“Welcome to the crew,” Niki continued.

“Max, here’s the stuff you wanted us to jog down,” Elexania said handed me a piece of paper. “It has all the features all three guilds want.”

“Perfect!” I grinned while quickly scan through the list. Then I looked at the rest of the crew, still cuddling around the extremely unimpressed Rodriguez.

“Let’s get started building, shall we, guys?”
