PMD-U Eurasia: Dungeon 1--Basalt Halls Part 5

I frowned when I opened the door, which revealed a dark room with water dripping down from the ceiling, and chains mounted on the wall.

“What in the name of holy hell is this!?” I exclaimed with a twisted face.

“Looks like some sort of dungeon…” Elexania replied.

“This place really looks creepy as hell,” Wesley remarked.

“Hey…” Thorn jumped down from Aurora’s back and walked into the room on his own. “I see something shiny on the corner there…”

“Wait, Thorn, don’t go in there alone!” I called.

Thorn didn’t listen. He cautiously tipped his feet as he slowly walked toward the corner to see that glare he saw.

*Click*

“Huh?”

*Rumble, rumble…*

Thorn followed the rumbling noise and looked up.

“Holy shi—”

The last thing I remembered was I turned my head around to protect myself from dust along with others. When we slowly turned back after everything settled, we realized Thorn was buried under a pile of rocks at the corner of the room.

“THORN!!”

Aurora screamed in horror and rushed to the pile with Neige, Dastan, Elexania, and I followed in. She desperately tried to dig into the pile of rock, trying to safe her partner.

“Is everything alright in there?” Nikko worriedly asked from the door.

“Don’t come in, we don’t know if there’s any more traps in there,” I called back.

“What happened?” Wesley asked.

“Thorn triggered a trap and got himself buried under a pile of rocks,” I replied.

“Wha—”

Dastan, Aurora, and I dug through the dirt and rocks to dig Thorn out, but as soon as we removed a part of the hill, the rocks above them fall in, pushing us back to square one.

Elexania had an idea. “Max, Dastan, let’s try using Psychic to move those rocks up at once?”

“Just you and I aren’t gonna enough to move these rocks!” Dastan replied.

“But the three of us can together,” I replied. “I know Psychic.”

Dastan turned to me, looking surprised.

“You know Psychic?” he asked. “Aren’t you a…”

“Let’s take care of what’s on hand and ask questions later, will ya!?”

Elexania, Dastan, and I took a few paces back from the pile.

“Psychic!!!”

A faint pink aura grew around the small hill of rocks and slowly, the hill lifted up from the floor and revealed Thorn right underneath it. Aurora rushed in and lifted Thorn out before we drop the hill.

I rushed to the unconscious Thorn seconds after I dropped the rocks to tend to his injury.

“…”

“…”

“How is he?” Aurora asked.

“Not something serious, just need some medical attention,” I replied after I did a checkup on her partner. “Why don’t you move him to the base and have others take care of him?”

“But…”

“We’re gonna be fine, Aurora,” I said with a grin. “Don’t worry about us.”

“Alright…” said Aurora. After I carefully put Thorn on her back, Aurora walked back slowly toward the base.

“That didn’t really turn out well, did it?” Dastan stated after Aurora left.

“Meh, just the risk that came with the job,” Wesley followed.

“That just to show you that you need to be extremely careful while in a dungeon,” said Elexania. “One wrong move, and you’re done for.”

“Just like Thorn?” Neige said innocently.

“Just like Thorn,” I replied. “Let’s move on.”

In front of the locked door, Wesley hastily giggled the key to open the padlock. For some reason, the key just stuck there and wouldn’t budge at all.

I was clearly not impressed as Wesley took forever to open that door.

“C’mon, just how long does it take to unlock as simple lock?” I asked with my hands crossed.

“I…am trying…” Wesley grunted, “But this… damn key… just… wouldn’t move!”

“Is it even the right key?” Dastan asked, looking as impatient as I am.

“There’s only one locked door in this place so that should be it,” Elexania replied.

I just couldn’t take it anymore.

“Wesley, let me do it,” I said with an Aura Sphere charged on my hand.

“Wait—”

*Boom!*

I shoved Wesley on to the side and blasted the lock with my Aura Sphere. The lock is completely destroyed, and so is the knob of the door.

“Seriously though? I almost had it opened!” Wesley groaned.

“Well that’s really a quicker way to open that door,” Dastan joked.

“I just wanna get the rest of this place cleared and call it a day,” I said walking into the room.

Nikko, Neige, and Lexi followed. Wesley and Dastan looked at each other, shrugged, and followed in.
